I learnt about the bigger picture and how to analyse political situations/current events and apply critical thinking to understand what Muslims should be focusing on. Being taught by inspiring people such as Muhammad Rabbani also left a big impression and challenged me to raise my bar as a Muslim.
F
The programme was truly an eye opener on so many levels: political, ethically, spiritually and emotionally. On every session there was a new speaker (who was an expert on the field discussed during the session) that really helped in building a deeper understanding of our relationship with Allah and the society we live in.
M
The programme was extremely detailed and comprehensive, offering depth without being overwhelming. Being surrounded by like-minded sisters was both rewarding and motivating, creating an environment that encouraged open discussion and mutual growth. The political component, in particular, pushed us to critically examine dominant narratives that are often presented uncritically in the media, fostering a more informed, reflective, and principled approach to understanding current events.

The Asr Initiative programme is unique by design, making it unlike any other programme I have participated in. The specialised focus on developing Muslim leadership from the inside out, beginning with purpose, grounding us in prophetic mission, and equipping us to navigate contemporary realities, made the experience both deeply personal and intellectually transformative.
M
I really enjoyed the programme and loved meeting sisters from diverse backgrounds, building meaningful bonds and developing a strong sense of sisterhood along the way. The seminars were particularly enriching, as each session approached key issues from different angles and lenses, allowing for a more nuanced and well-rounded understanding. This variety encouraged reflection, discussion, and personal growth, making the learning experience both engaging and impactful.
S
The Asr programme is for anyone seeking to make sense of an ever-changing, often confusing, and constantly evolving world through the lens of the Qur’an. It aims to spark meaningful reflection that leads to real, practical action aligned with the Prophetic Sunnah. The programme is taught by industry experts and, more importantly, by individuals who strive to live by these principles in their own lives.
T
The programme not only gave me a deeper understanding of political situations and current events, but also the tools to think more critically while staying grounded in core values. The sessions were engaging, relevant to our times, and included practical elements that I can implement in my personal life. I came away feeling more confident, inspired, and clear about my next steps. I would highly recommend the programme to anyone looking to raise their bar as a Muslim in the West.
M
The programme equips Muslims engaged in Islamic activism in the West with a clearer understanding of the realities they operate within, offering principles to read the political and social landscape beyond surface-level narratives. By examining power, influence, and how dominant discourses are formed and circulated—alongside concepts such as the Overton window—it provides a perspective that is often missing, helping organisations avoid common political pitfalls and engage wider society with greater clarity and purpose.
H
Being part of the ASR Initiative was a deeply meaningful experience. The programme helped me develop a stronger grounding in Islamic principles while critically engaging with the realities facing our communities today. Through seminars and smaller halaqaat, I gained clarity and a renewed sense of purpose in how I approach activism in the current climate. ASR created a supportive space to learn and grow alongside like-minded individuals committed to principled and positive impact, and I thank Allah for the opportunity to have been part of it.
Y
The Asr thought-leadership programme is deeply meaningful to me in many ways. Among its many benefits is its ability to frame political language and strategy through the lens of Islām, ensuring that we are not misled by our opponents while maintaining our honour and moral integrity. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this programme opens a figurative door, enabling participants to analyse the world and its systems for what they truly are, rather than for what they claim to be.
B
The Asr initiative is unique in that it combines Qur'anic paradigms and key concepts with the complesxity of contemporary socio-political contexts. I thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from my time as both a participant and a team member.
