OUR STORY

WHO WE ARE

Generations of graduate Muslim activists are being underutilised in making an impact on wider society.

Projects such as ISOC, grassroot initiatives & charity work, which require an intense level of leadership experience, result in the cultivation of talent heavily sought out in the professional space. In 2015, a group of former ISOC presidents came together and recognised the need of Muslim leaders in specialist fields post-university life, to further activism in wider society.

The Asr Initiative aims to reignite one's leadership and activist talents beyond a university space while being underpinned by a divine Islam-centric framework.

Prominent Muslim activists, change-makers and leaders within society are key vehicles for Islam.

Our vision is to create and nurture a generation of Muslims who embody the qualities found within Surah Al-'Asr, namely living by the revelation, understanding our reality and acting with resolve.

The Asr Initiative seeks to provide a platform for active Muslims to develop into principled leaders who are grounded in authentic knowledge, with a comprehensive Islamic vision.

We aim to provide participants with the necessary mind-sets and skills required to become agents of positive influence in the wider society.

We envision a community of Muslim leaders connected to divine revelation.

Our work is faith-driven; the Qur'an and the example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ inspire everything we do.

Reality.

We envision a community of Muslim leaders grounded in reality.

We emphasise having a finger on the pulse of our society, and our work is firmly rooted in our reality and context as Muslims living in Britain.

Resolve.

We envision a community of Muslim leaders who have the resolve to act.

Our work is action-oriented and we work hard to effect positive change as inspired by our faith whilst not being swayed by challenges.
